I’m sorry

It has been weeks since I have posted and it is not from a lack of want or will. My health has been terrible, my stress has been unbearable and what my next post is about I’m haven’t been in a place to write. I’m asking for prayers right now. My husband has been out of work since November, my health is not improving and our savings are depleted. I know God has something great in store for us and sometimes waiting can be defeating, but our faith is unwavering and our love grows stronger.

Eager Hands

She seeks wool and flax and works with eager hands. Proverbs 31:13 NIV

Now we all know we don’t spin our own wool today, most of us probably don’t even sew. I luckily know how to sew but sewing my families clothes is something I don’t do. Selecting the right wool and linens to make clothes for her family is something the Proverbs 31 woman took pretty seriously. She was careful with decisions of these selections and selected the best and finest materials. Today we should also be careful with our selections in clothing for our families, we want good quality clothing that it also honoring to God and appropriate for each season.

Most of us don’t know what flax is so I’ll give you a quick breakdown. It had multiple uses, it was used to make linens for warmer climates, food, medicines, and oils. These were also selected carefully by her and should be by us. We should be careful in selecting what goes not only into our bodies but also into the bodies of our family. We want to make healthy choices for our families and will take more of a look at this with verses 14 and 15. We are to be careful with our choices.

Working with eager hands needs to be done with joy. We are doing our work for the Lord. Yes, washing those dishes, scrubbing those toilets, writing that weekly report, checking on that patient, teaching that class, it’s all done for the Lord. Not all of us are homemakers and not all of us work outside of the home, but whatever your role may be it is to be done with eager hands for the Lord. A godly woman serves cheerfully with love. No matter where your work is done we were designed to work. In Genesis 2 we see Adam has been placed in Eden to tend to it, God then saw that Adam need a helper comparable to him and so woman was made. Husband and wife tending to Eden with eager hands. And whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, Colossians 3:23 NKJV When you set your mind to the things of Heaven while working with eager hands your tasks become so much easier and less daunting.

Gracious Father, thank you for giving us hearts to serve. As we tackle each day help us to work with eager hands and helps us to remember we are working for you and your glory, that all we do is to honor you. Help us to make careful choices as we choose the things we need for our families and that they may always honor you. In Jesus’ Holy Name. Amen.

Virtuous Wife

If you read my bio you know I strive to be a Proverbs 31, Titus 2, Ephesians 5 woman and by the love, mercy, and grace of God is the only way I can do that. Because let me tell you sister it is no easy task on my own. This not something you will accomplish overnight and nothing I have fully accomplished because I fail. Yes I fail. Christians fail, but by the blood of Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

I want to start this slowly and take a look at what each of these mean. I have done years of intensive research and being lead by the Holy Spirit I want to share it with you. We are not only called to be a Proverbs 31 woman but also a Titus 2 woman and a Ephesians 5 wife. I’ll show you how they all tie together. We will be starting with Proverbs 31.

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far more than rubies. 11 The heart of her husband safely trust her; so he will lack no gain. 12 She does him good and not evil all the days of her life Proverbs 31:10-12 In the english dictionary virtuous is defined as having or showing high moral standards. In the NIV virtuous translates to noble character. Noble is defined as having or showing high moral principles. God calls us to be virtuous women, he equips us with the character we need to be virtuous women. A virtuous woman makes the right decision even when it is hard and in the times no one is looking does the right thing. She speaks in love, controls her anger, is patient, kind, gentle, humble, and modest. Does this sound impossible? Well it isn’t with God, Jesus tells us in Matthew 19:26 with God all things are possible.

It is important that we have the trust of our husbands and we lead lives that enrich our husbands. Communication and complete transparency are very important in marriage, it helps keep trust. Once trust is broken it is hard to repair. Being honest always keeps the trust alive. This once wasn’t the case for my marriage, and it came from both sides, but we serve a mighty powerful God who forgives, heals guilt, shame, unforgiveness and reconciles! Serving God and putting Him first and foremost in our lives and in the center of our marriage is the most important element of a marriage.

You want to always bring your husband good not evil. Speak good of your husband to others, if you have a problem with your husband take it to your husband. Give it to God to work on your husbands heart, he is our healer and Great Counselor. God loves us, protects us, and provides for us as our first heavenly husband, through our earthly husband. For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of Host is His name, and your Redeemer is the Holy one of Israel, He is called the God of the whole earth. Isaiah 54:5 NKJV

We are all designed by God in his perfect image. Fearfully and wonderfully made! We are strong, beautiful, virtuous women created with a purpose. God’s purpose for our lives is written on our hearts. for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13

Gracious, loving Father, as I set my eyes on you, I pray over every woman reading this today. I pray that no matter where she is in her walk with you that you will show her your mighty love, mercy, and grace. Walk with her Lord and teach her how to be the virtuous woman you called her to be. Put others in her path to remind how strong and beautiful she is, so they may lift one another up in your Word. Thank you Father for loving us. In Jesus’ most Holy name. Amen.
